Mandy Atkission began her journey with Trauma Intervention Programs (TIP) in 2003 as a volunteer for the San Diego County affiliate. In 2005, she advanced to Crisis Team Manager, and by 2007, she was promoted to Executive Director of the San Diego affiliate.
In 2011, Mandy and her family fulfilled a long-awaited dream of relocating to Western North Carolina. “Leaving San Diego was difficult, but the mountains of North Carolina were calling our name,” she reflects. Fortunately, Mandy was able to stay with TIP as the Chief Development Officer for TIP National. One of her first initiatives in her new role was to establish a TIP program in her new community, a goal that was successfully achieved with the launch of TIP of WNC in 2015.
Today, as CEO of TIP, Mandy oversees the national organization, works directly with the 15 TIP affiliates, collaborates with cities and counties to expand the program, and conducts TIP training across the country. She remains actively involved with the TIP of WNC affiliate, continuing to support her local community while leading the organization at a national level.
